Willbros, with more than a century of experience, is a leader in pipelines and related facilities. Willbros has engineered and constructed more than 200,000 km (124,000 miles) of pipelines worldwide, almost five times the world's circumference. It designs and constructs facilities to meter, compress, pump and regulatre hydrocarbon flows through the pipelines. Expansion into the utility transmission and distribution market melds capabilities with Willbros in natural gas gathering and transmission and adds the construction of urban gas lines.
With the additions of InServ and Wink Engineering, now the Downstream Oil and Gas Segment, Willbros has developed a strong presence in the refining and petrochemical industries. It is able to provide integrated services including complete Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) solutions to clients in those industries, as well to provide maintenance services, reliable plant turnarounds and specialized heater and safety services. Our downstream services further penetrate the hydrocarbon processing industries. Maintenance and construction of API storage tanks address the hydrocarbon storage market.
Willbros entered the electric utility market with the 2010 acquisition of InfrastruX. Overhead and underground transmission and distribution line construction and maintenance, substation services, power generation facilities (including solar), wind power installations, wireless and telecommunications infrastructure are all end markets for the Utility Transmission and Distribution segment. Clients include public and investor-owned utilities, independent power producers, non-utility generators and electric cooperatives. Large-bore horizontal directional drilling (HDD) capabilities serve many industries and municipalities requiring subsurface pipe installations, including water, wastewater and sewer installations.
